Ladydance, neither you nor I are from Botswana, so we aren't really able to tell if this is appropriate language there or not. Presumably a partner would be not only local but also in the early 20's age group.

But I would agree that "hello" is probably not the most productive subject line for a local partner wanted ad on a global forum.
You may want to do a little research.

The official language of Botswana is English. It's unlikely that an adult - especially one with enough knowledge to navigate the 'net - would demonstrate such poor usage.

"The official language of Botswana is English."

But likely not the same in common everyday usage as the version of the language that you and I speak or write. Your standard of "poor usage" is relative to what you are used to in your location. Someone looking for a 20-something partner in an area where they communicate differently would understandably be writing for that person, not for you.

I don't see the word Botswana anywhere. I see someone who is ignorant writing ignorantly and someone excusing their ignorance based on an assumption.

There is no excuse for butchering the English language no matter what your ethnicity. Mistakes are understandable...what this individual has written looks like an ad for a hooker or a mail order bride.

"I don't see the word Botswana anywhere. I see someone who is ignorant writing ignorantly and someone excusing their ignorance based on an assumption."

It seems you are as ignorant of her language and culture as you accuse her of being of yours. No harm in that, I was too. But I had enough of a suspicion to drop "Motswana" into a search engine, and learned something kind of interesting about the way a particular language uses prefixes.

"There is no excuse for butchering the English language no matter what your ethnicity."

Someday you may learn that there are as many versions of the language as there are cultures which use it, especially those which use it to some degree alongside another.
